Damas Island Tour

$50.000

Categoría:

Approximately two hours north of La Serena, we set off toward the Humboldt Penguin National
Reserve. Upon reaching the Punta de Choros pier, we prepare to board a boat bound for the Choros
and Damas Islands.
From a respectful distance, we observe Choros Island, home to colonies of Humboldt penguins and a
variety of other species, including sea lions, chungungos, bottlenose dolphins, and cormorants. To
give you the best opportunity to admire and photograph these fascinating creatures, we slow down
and carefully circle the island.
Our next stop is Damas Island, with its stunning white sandy beach and crystal-clear waters. The
landscape evokes a Caribbean paradise, albeit with cooler temperatures. Here, you can stroll along
marked trails to explore the island’s natural beauty.
After immersing ourselves in this wonder of nature, we return to the boat and head to the town of
Los Choros. There, we enjoy lunch at a traditional local restaurant, savoring the flavors of the region.
Finally, we begin our journey back to La Serena, carrying with us the memories of an extraordinary
place where nature truly takes center stage as the star of the experience.

Detailed Route

La Serena

Our journey begins as we pick up passengers along Avenida del Mar, starting at Enjoy
Casino and continuing to El Faro, before proceeding down Avenida Francisco de Aguirre to the city
center. Once all passengers are on board, we head north toward Caleta Punta de Choros.

Punta de Choros Cove

After approximately two hours of driving, we arrive at Caleta Punta de Choros. Here, our guide will handle the arrangements for visiting Isla Damas. Once everything is set, we head to the dock, don our life jackets, and board the boat.

Choros Island

Choros Island serves as a sanctuary for the Humboldt penguin, making disembarkation prohibited to preserve its habitat. Instead, the boat will navigate around the island, allowing you to observe and photograph these penguins and other species such as sea lions, cormorants, and various seabirds.

Damas Island

Next, we travel to Damas Island, where disembarkation is permitted. Upon arrival, CONAF staff will provide instructions for visiting the island. You’ll have one hour to explore at your own pace—visit the scenic viewpoint, stroll along the marked trails, or relax on the pristine beach.

Lunch

Returning to Caleta Punta de Choros, we’ll head to a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional
meal. A complete menu, including a starter, main course, dessert, and beverage, will be offered.
Menu options will be coordinated with your guide to accommodate preferences.

Return to La Serena

On the drive back, keep an eye out for local wildlife such as wild donkeys, guanacos, and foxes, which sometimes venture close to the road. If we spot them, we’ll make a stop for observation and photography—remember, feeding them is strictly prohibited. Finally, we arrive back in La Serena, where passengers will be dropped off at their accommodations in the downtown or beach areas.
